Teppei Ono solo exhibition in CIBONE Omotesando

In April, Energy Teppei Ono’s exhibition will be held at CIBONE in Omotesando, Tokyo, where various emotions intersect as the starting month. It will be his first large-scale exhibition in Tokyo in eight years. Please come and experience it for yourself. We believe that meeting people who can shake our hearts and even change our lives can make a difference in society with one stroke. And things and experiences that appeal to people’s emotions and sensibilities are what inhabit the energy of people gathering. CIBONE exists in a place like a crossroads where chaotic people and things come and go. Teppei Ono’s ceramic exhibition is our first exhibition in eight years. “What I have to do hasn’t changed at all from the past to now. What I can do is decide within myself, and how close I can get to it as much as possible in my work.” With these words that haven’t changed a bit in eight years, I felt a little bit of burden lifted off my shoulders and a feeling of being pushed forward on my back. This is because we believe that the power to survive that can be obtained through a very simple exchange of meeting one earthenware is unique. Introducing Teppei Ono, the creator, here and now is a challenge to see if we can stop people’s feet or make them turn around with the power of objects and a statement of our future. Please take a look at Teppei Ono’s vessel, which is a source of living vitality open to all.

When you meet Teppei at the exhibition venue, he asks, “Why did you come?” He asks to confirm what the other person is reacting to. CIBONE is a place where many encounters await, even for young people who don’t know Teppei Ono’s name. The earthenware is supposed to ask why you picked it up. In a world where a certain sense of disappointment and resignation prevails, I hope this exhibition, where earthenware questions the meaning of life, will be something to see.
