Akihiro Taniguchi solo exhibition

We are pleased to announce the solo exhibition of Mr. Akihiro Taniguchi, a potter based in Kyotamba Town, Kyoto Prefecture, at the Kyoto store of the renowned British knitwear brand, JOHN SMEDLEY. Mr. Taniguchi creates beautiful and warm porcelain vessels that convey the warmth of handcrafting. We will be showcasing meticulously crafted pieces, such as the elegant and soft “Shiho Sara” series, coffee makers, and handcrafted cups that can be used for sake or tea. These items not only boast excellent usability but also exhibit a design that proudly upholds approximately 240 years of tradition, remaining timeless through the ages.

Akihiro Taniguchi:
Born in 1970 in Kyoto Prefecture. After graduating from Kyoto College of Art and Design, he trained at a kiln in Tokoname before becoming independent. He continues his meticulous work with warm porcelain at the “Kokonoka Studio” in Kyotamba Town. His works convey a modest kindness and sincerity.
