Maiko Miyaoka & Mutsuhiko Shimura joint exhibition

We are pleased to announce the long-awaited joint exhibition of ceramic works by Maiko Miyaoka and Mutsuhiko Shimura, both based in Ome, Tokyo. Shimura started his journey in pottery during his time as a Japanese cuisine chef, studying under Sohichi Nagae in Seto. After engaging in activities such as unearthing ancient Chinese ceramics, he and Miyaoka together established the Hanatsuki Kiln. Miyaoka, on the other hand, pursued pottery after graduating from Musashino Art University’s oil painting department. She meticulously crafts vessels inspired by ancient ceramics. This exhibition will showcase the rich and alluring worlds of both artists, featuring techniques such as black glaze, powdered enamels, Mishima, celadon, sometsuke, white porcelain, and lustrous glazes. We invite you to come and experience their creations.
