Shohei Ono continually refers to his creations by explaining that
he does not consciously feel that he is producing works of pottery. Rather, he
values the comfort in their usability and seeks to never lose sight of the
fundamental questions. Using his own hands, he digs the earth and makes varnish.
For him, the finished works are simultaneously a vessel, and yet not a vessel.
He is spirited by his repeated travels to Asia, including India and Thailand,
whereupon he tasted the strength and beauty lying at the core of human
existence. As an individual filled with the desire to overcome values and
obstacles, he is directed in the art of pottery making by his compulsion to
create his very own works.
Shohei Ono was born in 1985 in Aichi Prefecture.
He spent his childhood years gazing upon his father, Teppei  Ono, a Potter,
create works of art. In 2012, he became an apprentice to Ryoji Koie. And in 2013
he studied under Teppei Ono. In 2015 he established himself independently in
Kochi Prefecture, Kami City. In 2014 he had his first solo exhibition at Osaka
City, wad. Since 2018, he has been expanding his portfolio by presenting works
in CIBONE aoyama, EXHIBITION “BORDERLESS”; UTSUWA SHOKEN KAMAKURA exhibition;and in a ceramic art gallery in Taiwan.
